The Tommy Shelby Pen
Peaky Blinders Season 6: The first pen in this extraordinary collection is dedicated to Tommy Shelby, self-appointed leader of the Peaky Blinders gang and the brains behind their ‘business’ operations. Based on the traditional Conway Stewart Churchill pen in Classic Black with sterling silver fittings and an 18ct gold 2-tone nib, the Tommy Shelby pen is engraved with the following quotation from the series:
‘Do I look like a man that wants a simple life?’
The Arthur Shelby Pen
The second pen in the Peaky Blinders collection is dedicated to Arthur Shelby, the older brother of Tommy, who is the enforcer. He was a soldier with Tommy in WWI digging treacherous tunnels under the enemy lines. A boxer with apparently no-fear, he is always at the centre of every fight. As the Deputy Vice President of the Shelby Company Limited he is immaculately dressed, and this fountain pen would have suited him perfectly.
Based on the traditional Conway Stewart Churchill pen in Midnight Blue with a black nib holder, barrel end and cap top. Fitted with 9ct gold rings and an 18ct gold CS nib, the Arthur Shelby pen is engraved on the barrel with one of his most famous quotes from the series:
‘I've got some trouble that'll keep you out of trouble’
The Polly Gray Pen
The third pen in the Peaky Blinders collection is dedicated to Polly Gray, the Aunt of Tommy and Arthur, and the matriarch of the Shelby family. She looked after her nephews when they were young, and managed the family business when they were fighting in WWI. A powerful and perceptive lady, Tommy seeks her advice and confides in her. Polly is a certified accountant, company treasurer of the Shelby family, and is definitely first among equals in a man’s world.
Always dressed to kill, this fountain pen would have suited her perfectly.
Based on the traditional Conway Stewart Churchill pen in Bordeaux and black. Fitted with 9ct gold rings and an 18ct gold CS nib, the Polly Gray Pen is engraved on the barrel with one of her famous quotes from the series:
‘Brave is going where no man has gone before’
A specially designed emblem featuring the quote ‘By Order of The Peaky Blinders’ has been designed to top every pen in this Limited Edition range. This emblem has the Conway Stewart CS logo stamped in the middle with horses either side that represent the Shelby’s family interest in horse racing.
Each pen has its unique edition number engraved at the end of the barrel, and is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 finished airing here in the UK in March 2022, Conway Stewart is proud to release the first in a limited edition collection of pens based on the leading characters of this highly popular and long-running series.
For those who are not familiar with Peaky Blinders here is a brief background to the series which first started in 2013:
Based in the lawless streets of Birmingham in the period immediately after the First World War, it is the story of the Shelby family who have adopted the gang name ‘The Peaky Blinders’. The Irish-Romani family, led by the ruthless but charismatic Tommy Shelby, runs a pseudo-legal business as bookmakers which acts as a cover for many of their other activities such as robbery, racketeering, horse race fixing and gambling.
The name ‘Peaky Blinders’ comes from the distinctive flat caps they wear which often have razor blades sewn into their peaks and can be used to devastating effect in fights. Tommy had been in the British Army during the First World War. He had risen to Sergeant Major of the Birmingham Rifles and had been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal during campaigns in France.
The story follows the Shelby family’s trials and tribulations over the course of the next 10 - 15 years.
Why a ‘Peaky Blinders’ pen?
At the time we are introduced to the Shelby family, fountain pens, including those made by Conway Stewart, were becoming more and more popular worldwide. Indeed, watch closely and you’ll see fountain pens featured in several episodes including those being used by Winston Churchill and by Tommy.
The Peaky Blinders Pen Collection is also a tribute to the pen-making and silversmithing history of Birmingham. It has been estimated that approximately 75% of the world’s pens nibs were manufactured in Birmingham in the mid to late 19th century and today the Birmingham Pen Museum, in the Jewellery Quarter, is proud testament to the long history of pen and nib making in the industrial heart of the city.
The sterling silver cap band of every Peaky Blinders pen also bears a set of assay marks which identifies the item as being ‘Made in Birmingham’. Look closely and you’ll see the ‘Anchor’ mark, one of the set of hallmarks stamped on all silver items by the Birmingham Assay Office to confirm their quality, purity and origin. The Birmingham Assay Office has been applying the Anchor mark to items of silver since 1773.
